Does anyone have 3 in one bedroom?

We would live dc3 but already have ds(5) and dd (almost 3) sharing a room in our 2 bed house. The bedrooms are big and they currently don't spend much time in their room. Obviously baby would share with us for 6mths minimum but more like a year.

Is it fair to have another dc when we have so little space? Hopefully we would move house in a few years so it wouldn't be for too long but I don't know if its stupid to consider another child when the ones we have need to share.

I shared with my two sisters until my older sister moved out. Don't think it did us any harm. I have enough bedrooms for my two girls not to share, but I might still have them share a room. I don't think it is stupid to consider it. Kids these days have so much. We grew up with very little and survived! Good luck with whatever you decide.

Sounds fine to me, I've three boys, 9 and 5yo have bunks in a tiny room (well tiny with all their stuff!) which is about 7ftx10ft

They prefer to sleep in one single bed in my room at present hmm

I am in the double bed with the baby (3 weeks old)

It's bizarre but do-able. I wish we had an extra bedroom but still, it just works for the time being.

Yes growing up I did with my sisters and my 3 boys will share a room when the youngest leaves my room.

I hated it though.

I shared a bedroom with my 5 sisters till I moved out at 18. my 4 brothers also shared a room. we lived in a 3 bed house and the rooms were big enough.

if there is enough room for a bed /cot and enough storage for clithes etc. I wouldnt see a problem with it.

I shared a room with my 3 sisters. Apart from the usual teenage strops (usually because we all had different tastes in music!!) we got along just fine.

Im expecting my third who will go in the cot in his/her brother and sisters room. The older two have a lovely new bunkbed and the room is a nice size, plus we wont be moving for a few years. Theyre all so young anyway i dont think it matters

I have three DC in one room. It's a big room DC1 (5) and DC2 (4) share a bunk bed and DC3 (2) has a single bed. It works well and osmetimes they all get into bed together and snuggle up. I'm happy for it to continue this way for the foreseeable future.
TBH I don't see anything wrong with DCs sharing. We have enough rooms for them to have one each at some point, but while they are young and happy with sharing it's fine. Plus it means all thier toys and mess are confined to one room of horror!

Yes 14, 12 and 11 year old boys in one room which is the biggest bedroom in the house, works really well smile

Same as hackney we have dds 5,4&2 in one room in bunks & one single.
The elder two have their clothes in there and then 14 mo ds is in the little bedroom with his clothes & dd3s clothes.

It works fine.

4dds here, 6, 4, 2 and 12 months. My big plan was to have 2dds in one bedroom and 2 in the other. Baby still in with us as still bloody well breastfeeding at night. So for the past year or so dd3 has been in a room on her own. She hasn't been happy, but putting her in with her sisters wasn't really an option because room is a stupid layout - two beds don't even fit in there well. Dd3 sleeping is atrocious, needs us to lie with her to go to sleep, and frequently we need to sleep on her floor during the night when she wakes at night. Coupled with dd4 crap sleep, night times have been awful in this house. Currently getting two bathrooms renovated, we are all in two rooms and out of need for sleep, we put dd3 in with dd 1 & 2. Hey presto, she is sleeping through the night and doesn't need us to go to sleep. Rooms is difficult to move around in, but hey!

I'd love to put them all into one room, but our rooms are to small. When dd4 sleeps though the night and it cannot be room enough I'd happily let them share a room with whichever sibling they chose!

I also think it's fine plus your dd/ds are young enough that no matter what sex you have next they would be fine to share with dc3 once you have moved to a bigger house.

I have triple bunk beds in my boys rooms- all on top of each other. Not much room to sit up etc but leaves more floor space for playing for the 3 of them! They love it!!

Yes, we have our three girls in one room and the two boys in the other. We're getting a loft extension later in the year but they have been absolutely fine sharing. My eldest daughter is 11 and my youngest son 4.

Yep - 3 boys aged 6,4 and 2. 2 in bunks and one in toddler bed. When ds4 is about 2 I may move him in. They seem comforted by being together.

amazingmumof6 Sat 09-Feb-13 08:35:35

we have are 4 oldest boys sharing a bedroom for about 4 years now (on& off). they are 11, 9, 8 & 6 - we just moved them onto the top floor bedroom(loft convertion) so they have lot of space for lego (out of little ones' reach) and for sleepovers.

we've got 2 bunk beds they sleep on.

DS5 (2.8 yrs) is on his own (in a cot still) in another room for now, but baby DD (9 months, she's in our room) will move in with him soon - after her 1st birthday.
we have our 3rd bunk bed there, so they can share that eventually.

we are looking into moving because we'd like a bigger garden and just more space generally, but the sleeping arrangements are sorted for the next 5 years, at least.

amazingmumof6 Sat 09-Feb-13 08:37:29

btw, we only moved them up at Christmas and we offered our oldest to have his own - very small - bedroom, but he wanted to be in the loft and was happy to put up with his brothers...

mixedmamameansbusiness Sat 13-Apr-13 09:14:52

We have three boys all under 7. We actually have three rooms although one is a very small single, we chose to share and they love it.

We are currently planning redecoration and have given the older to a few options and for the most part they want to continue sharing.

mixedmamameansbusiness Sat 13-Apr-13 09:21:18

I should also point out that if they decide to share past about 11 then we will probably move them to our room.

ExhaustTed Sun 14-Apr-13 22:53:01

Yes, three sharing here too. I was really nervous about it to start of with as the baby was a bad sleeper so worried she'd wake her brothers, but it has all worked out ok.
(Although I think they might all sleep in that little bit better if they had their own rooms, but this could just be a dream)
I think they are all quite close because of it

girlsyearapart Sun 14-Apr-13 23:00:09

Yes we have the three girls in together in bunks and a single. They are 5,4&2.
Ds who is 16m is in a cot in the box room by himself

pinkteapot Mon 15-Apr-13 21:23:25

we have 2 sharing at the moment, two ds, 3.5yrs and 2.5yrs. dd 1 year will move in with them soon to allow new baby into the box room. eldest and youngest are great sleepers, middle one (already sharing) isnt so good. but they do ok. i'd be ok stackin em like pancakes to be honest, sleeping is sleeping - just wish we had more living space rather than more bedroom space! a semi-d feels small with dc 4 on the way...

syl1985 Sat 04-May-13 01:01:40

No problem. My 3 boys are also sleeping in the same room. They seem to like it.
